When a pro sporting competition is interrupted, it’s usually by a drunk, overweight fan. Usually he’s shirtless.
But during a championship match between two Brazilian soccer teams, a friendly stray dog made his way on the field. Though he completely disrupted the game, no one seemed to mind.
In a video posted online, the dog can be seen running around the field, nose to the ground and tail in the air. The dog appears to know it’s not supposed to be there, but just couldn’t resist the urge to chase a bunch of humans around. He runs from player to player, seeking a reassuring scratch or two.
Luckily for the dog, it seems everyone in attendance that day had a love for dogs.
One of the players lovingly cradles the dog in his arms, carrying him to the sideline and allowing play to resume. The crowd cheered wildly.
And then, one of the game’s commentators had a moment of profound wisdom, when he said this:
“Be good to an animal, to a dog. It’s the least a human being can do to give back for all that they give us.”
