Airedoodle Information

History

The Airedoodle is a cross between the Airedale Terrier and the Poodle; it is a designer breed that will possess characteristics from both parents, although there are no guarantees on what characteristics and behavior the pup will inherit from the parent breeds. Both parent breeds hold long, interesting histories. The Airedale Terrier is the largest of the terrier breeds and is originally from Yorkshire, England. The Poodle comes from Germany; they were first bred to help hunters. Both parent breeds are known for being intelligent, loyal and good natured.

Appearance

The Airdoodle has an average height of twenty to twenty four inches and a weight range of forty to sixty pounds.    They are sturdy, muscular and squarely built with a round head and bright eyes. The muzzle is medium sized and usually black in color. They have long, floppy ears and a medium length, dense coat.  Color ranges from cream to brown to black and grey.

Temperament

This breed of dog is known to be fun loving, alert, and friendly; they make for excellent family dogs and good watch dogs. This breed is fairly easy to train; they benefit well from socialization and obedience training.

Health

This Owners may be able to expect for this breed to live between ten and fifteen years if proper care is given. To stay in good health, these dogs require plenty of room for exercise, as they benefit from the mental stimulation that comes from playing. This type of dog also requires its nails to be trimmed regularly. This breed may have the potential to develop Hip dysplasia, as its parent breeds are prone to the condition.
