ATLANTIC BEACH, NC: An 18-year old is recovering from a wrist injury after a shark bit him Saturday.
Dillion Bowen was enjoying his day at the beach with his family when he turned around to come face to face with the shark. Dillion suffered a bite on the wrist and was transported to Carteret General Hospital where he received 26 stitches in his right hand. He reported he would need surgery and physical therapy, and that he had no plans to return to the beach any time in the near future.
According to WITN, there were no shark sightings before the incident, and the beach remained open afterwards.
This is the first shark bite this year at Atlantic Beach.
