According to Martha’s Vineyard Police, a man broke into a local home, stolen a few items, and painted the resident’s dog purple.
Initially, police were called to a separate neighborhood location, where someone had allegedly stolen a car, crashed it, and fled on foot. Soon after investigating the crashed vehicle, police were notified of a break-in at the residence in question, where they found a first-floor window forced open and – sure enough – a very confused purple dog running around the house.
“Items were reported stolen and the victim’s dog had been painted with purple paint,” Oak Bluffs Police Department said in a statement.
At some point soon after the investigation, police apprehended a man with purple paint on his pants named Felix Reagan; in other words, Reagan was caught red-handed (or in this case, “purple-pantsed”).
Thankfully, Reagan has been charged with grand theft auto, breaking and entering, and cruelty to animals. As far as anyone can tell, the dog will be fine – though it may need some therapy.
